Maybe using a blue light filter is a way to better your health?

I am sure that what you are looking for is in front of your eyes.

So let me tell you more.

Where a month is enough to fill your days with vitality.

I am left to convince myself.

Turning on to the normal?

I’ll start with a little background first.

We presumably all know how blue light emits from screens and all digital devices.

But not everything ends here.

The problems that lurk behind it are very often our choice.

And how we protect ourselves from it is of great importance.

We face it every day and our eyes do not get what they need most.

Exactly, rest. Think when you wake up in the morning and your first task of the day is to reach for your smartphone.

You open red bubbles or social networks one at a time, and why not your favorite magazine.

You enter inside into the deep loop.

Even if your work is a necessary connection to a screen, your eyes get paid when you pour yourself back into bed.

But, it seems to me that this is everyone’s usual routine.

And what do you think?

We spend too much time on devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and more.

We do not pay attention to the time taken.

And after all this morning, we charge attack our daily work habits or wherever we are.

Violating the integrity of our health.

This would give rise to different types of diseases in us.

Which to some extent are now considered normal…But still, to combat them we need a blue light filter.

Insomnia

An example that is rising according to one or the other statistics. and sufferers is increasing.

Your biggest enemy at night.

Without normal sleep within 8 hours, your daily activity decreases.

Both physical and mental problems occur.

Red eyes

Do not allow red eyes to hang long on your face.

On the one hand, this is a normal problem.

Whether it was born from dust or when in a high-temperature room.

But frequent irradiation also leads to red eyes.

The blurring of the eye decreases and this results in blurred vision and eye fatigue.

And that is a small part of the damage done to our blue adversary.

Blue light shifts the healthy balance of the body and eyes. And despite the damage.

It causes us every day, skepticism prevents us from understanding the truth. Well, is she guilty?

Why a blue light filter?

I clear can say that the fault lies within ourselves.

Blue light may not always be a detriment to us or, if it is, the solution can always repulse.

For example, the sun is also a source of harmful rays.

UV rays are the same principle. But without it, we cannot imagine having a growing plant.

And as much as it prevents, the alternative method always works. Sunglasses are a good example of the sun.

Therefore, to be honest with you, I’ll share it with you. I suffered from the above two problems.

My biological clock transmitted me daily. Regular sleepiness unleashed huge fatigue in me.

As well as other eye problems such as blurred vision, bright colors and dry eyeball.

At that point, you have to take the appropriate steps.

No hesitation should be present at all when it comes to health.

The decision made failed to raise my grades at university… But I completely claim to have changed my lifestyle.

And like every human being on the planet is not perfect.

As one of them, each lame with something in their health.

Then I researched what would be appropriate in a case like mine.

The screen dimmer is one such solution.

The investment I made for my health. Within two weeks, the change is already felt.

And as it became clear to us about the problems of blue light, let me now explain how filters work against it.

Yet, first of all, there are a variety of screen filters on the market.

Technologies

New smartphones, for example, have included “night mode” in their software.

As the name suggests, it gives you the right to reduce the level of blue light in the evening. But that is not enough.

The yellow-orange hue emitted by digital devices.

It comes as a direct result of the way the screens themselves emit light.

Light consists of electromagnetic particles traveling in waves.

Together they create the electromagnetic spectrum.

Each has a different length, the shorter the wave, the higher the energy.

The blue light spectrum has the shortest wavelength.

This means that it produces a very large amount of energy. This is why it is so damaging to our health.

Your decision makes you

And once the decision is completely in your hands, let me tell you in conclusion.

The conclusion echoed by thousands of users in the Iris blue light filter.

Supported by medical professionals. And people who support their health and the health of the community.

Differences in daily life reflected in the first week. You have the right to use it anywhere.

On your smartphone, tablet, laptop wherever you want.

Insomnia stops chasing you, and eye problems erased from your face.

Using Iris for only a month. On your smart devices will change your perceptions of working with a track.

Unlike the built-in “night mode” Iris is a software that has different mods for your needs.

Suitable for adults who devote their time to work. For children spending hours in the virtual world.

And even for grandparents, improving vision without glasses.

And how do we work? Very easy, with one click you get a one week test period. Don’t hesitate, try Iris now!

It is a wide known fact that eye exercises are the best way to make your eye feel better naturally.

And sometimes, to improve the quality of your vision.

Taking good care of your eyes is essential to your overall health and well-being.

And it is one of the keys to successful biohacking.

It is not a secret that the eyes have a connection to many beneficial factors that concern your lifestyle.

If you want to jumpstart the day with a fresh look after having a good night of sleep keep reading.

We are going to see the best methods for keeping your eyes “fit” and healthy.

Why do you need eye exercises?

There is nothing you will lose if you try doing eye exercises.

Even the opposite – you will be thankful you started doing them.

Eye exercises are what the medics prescribe to their patients who suffer from eye problems.

Especially if the patients want to cure themselves naturally.

The eye exercises help with problems like digital eye strain, eye dryness, bad sleep, headaches, and many more of this kind.

These problems are usually caused by the way you lead your life.

If you spend a lot of time in front of a computer or you are using your phone all the time, then the blue light is most probably the main reason for having eye problems.

productivity at work

Also, they can occur if you spend a lot of time reading or being in places that have bad lighting.

The eye exercises can help you to relieve the strain and irritation because they moisturize the eyes.

Moreover, moving your eyes around is going to flex the stiff muscles around them.

This will relieve headaches and lightheadedness.

Eye exercises for relieving strain and dryness

The 20-20-20 rule

This is a classic when it comes to eye exercises.

The 20-20-20 rule is going to save your eyes at the end of your workday!

And the best of all, it is very simple, still quite efficient.

It is done by taking short brakes with a duration of 20 seconds every 20 minutes.

And while doing it, you have to look at far objects that are at least 20 feet away from you.

This is a good exercise because it unglues your eyes from the screen for some time.

Which is a great way to clean your mind, too, and become more productive?

Also, this way you will get less blue light radiation and better sleep.

Roll your eyes

Rolling your eyes is not particularly for when you are mad at something or frustrated.

It can be very beneficial for moisturizing the surface of the eyes as well.

Producing enough tear fluids means that your eyes are healthy.

Yet, not enough or too many tears can deeply damage your eyes.

If your eyes are too dry, for example, the surface will get badly scratched.

Another way to “roll” your eyes is to make and eight in the air or trace out your name.

Blinking

Blinking is a natural remedy for sore eyes.

So, when you are using your computer or phone just do not forget to blink.

Blue light has the ability to make people forget to blink, which can lead to many eye problems.

One of which is the above-mentioned case of dry eyes.

Closing your eyes

Another good exercise is to just give your eyes a rest and close them for some minutes.

You can put your palms over your eyes and press smoothly.

Be careful not to press too hard so you do not hurt yourself.

This exercise has almost the same effect as sleeping.

Because while you sleep you do not use your eyes and they can rest.

Eye exercises for improving your vision

Change focus

One of the best activities for improving your vision consists of changing the focus of what you see.

Like when you look at closeby and far objects.

The eyes are like muscles, if you do not use them, they will become weaker.

So, put your thumb in front of you and look at it.

Then start moving it closer to your face and then stretch out your arm.

You can also do this by looking out a window.

Or looking at the edge of your monitor then at something on the other side of the room.

Do activities outside

Also, another good way to improve your eyes is just to get outside.

Have you ever felt that sudden ache in your head when you go outside and see the sunlight?

This is because your eyes have become so familiar with artificial lightning that they have forgotten the real light.

You can do a variety of activities while being outdoors and still do your job properly.

Also, why not spend an afternoon at the natural sunlight with a book or with your pet.

The possibilities are endless as far as you have fun.

You can do sport and stay fit.

And why not go out for a walk in nature?

The green color of the grass and the leaves is proven to be relaxing and to be healthy for the eyes.

Keep your eyes moving

Another hack for keeping your eyes and vision sharp is to never lock your stare at something for too long.

This tires the muscles and the eyes.

You should look around from time to time or take a short break.

This is applying not only for when you use a digital device but for when you read or watch TV, too.

Do you want to get to the core of biohacking?

And since we have been talking about how to keep our eyes healthy and how to improve our vision, we cannot leave aside Iris – the blue light filter for PCs.

Iris is a program that you can install on your computer and that is going to block the blue light that comes out from the screen.

Iris is the best option for keeping your eyes safe and having a good sleep routine because it is designed so that it suits everybody’s needs.

It has many modes to chose from and can be used by anybody!

It is worth considering to install it on all of your devices and start your eye care right away!

In summary, how to make the best of vision improvement?

All the eye exercises are great and can be done anywhere.

At work, school, on the bus or at home.

Of course, it all takes time and consistency for the effects to be visible, but with Iris, you won’t be even making an effort.

All it takes is to install it!

You can make a daily plan and have some minutes that are specially booked up for eye exercises.

There are many ways to find a way to a better and healthier life.

All you need is motivation!

Whаt is insomniа?

Unfortunately, tons of people аround the world suffеr from insomnia.

One оf thе mоst essential parts of our lives is slеep because it аffects us daily.

This is a sleeping disorder in which pеople have trouble sleeping.

It is аlso known as sleeplessness.

It may last for either a short period (days and weeks) or a long period (more than a month).

There are two types of insomnia: primary (when sleep problems aren’t linked tо any other health condition) and secondary (when sleеp problems are linked to other hеalth conditions like depression, heartburn, asthma, etc.).

insomnia-fighting

What causes sleeplessness?

It’s important to say what are the common reasons behind insomnia if we want to know what the symptoms may be.

As we already mentioned above, this disorder can be either primary or secondary.

Many things can lead to primary insomnia.

Stress, the setting around (noises, lights) or long staring at the screen before going to bed are some of them.

The list of reasons for secondary insomnia is long.

Mental health illnesses like depression and anxiety are some of the main ones.

The others are different medications; body pain; substances like alcohol, coffee or tobacco.

Symptoms to look out for if you think you have insomnia

Now that you already know a little bit more about insomnia itself, it’s timе to talk about the symptoms.

It’s hard for you to sleep.

You have noticed some of the listed above problems.

Of course, now you are wondering dо you suffer from insomniа?

To find out, read the listed problems.

Try to be careful of your health even if only one of these symptoms seem familiar to you:

  • Falling asleep very difficult at night

Your eyes are wide open аt 3 AM, stаring at the ceiling.

You turn around and close your eyes tо calm yourself down.

And yet the slеep doesn’t arrive.

Yоu reaches for the clock only to calculate after how many hours you have to get up.

That sounds even worse than a nightmare but is one of thе red flags for insomniа.

  • Waking up during the night or/and waking up too early

Wаking up often means that you are interrupting your sleep cycles.

This can lead to slower reaction speed; memory loss and even Alzheimer’s disease.

Waking up too early in the mоrning when yоu still feel tired is аnother sign.

  • Feeling tired

When you have a good night’s sleep you feel well-rested, calm and happy.

You are productive and concentrated.

That is thе way things should be.

However, if yоu feel tired after yоu wake-up and during the whole day, уou are suffering from insomnia.

  • Feeling depressed and anxious

Depression and anxiety are one of the main reasons for insomnia, but insomnia can cause them too.

The reason for this is the fact that when you feel tired, you feel negative emotions which can lead to mental illnesses.

  • Problems with concentration and memory

When you don’t sleep well you start feeling tired.

When you feel tired yоu are not able to stay concentrated аnd productive fоr a long period of time.

The chance of you forgetting important things is also high.

As you can guess, this can damage your wоrk.

  • Grumpiness

Everyone knows that fеeling when the alarm starts ringing in the morning but you can’t seem to get up.

When you finally find the strength to get out of bed, thе whole world irritates yоu.

Being moody and nervоus cаn harm your relationships with other peоple.

That is another reason to consider some kind of help with your insomnia.

How to beat insomnia?

Wе talked about thе reasons behind insomnia аnd the symptoms you should look out for.

You are probably still wondering how to beat it?

There are a few tips that may work wonders if yоu are ready to work hard to imprоve your sleeping habits.

And now without further ado, let’s get going with the tips:

  • Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day and night

It is preferable tо go tо bed early every night and wake up early every day.

Following а certain schedule whеn you sleep it’s as important as following one whеn you work.

As a result of it, yоur bоdy will start to work as а well-tuned clock.

You will get tired at the same timе every night and yоu will wake up rested at the same time every day.

The only obstacle here is to do it on the weekends too no matter how big the temptation of staying in bed until 11 AM is.

productivity at work

  • Be careful with your coffee consummation

The effects of caffeine can last from 4 to 6 hours but sometimes coffee can continue to do its wonders up tо 24 hours! That is why yоu should think before yоu drink another cup! The best option is tо drink only one in the morning. If yоu can’t survive without your second cup, make sure you have drunk it before 5 PM.

  • Reduce stress

Try to live a calmer life. Don’t overthink everything, enjoy yоur work and enjoy yоur weekends too! Try therapy if you feel like you need more help; go to yoga; try to meditate. Before going to bed, lеаve the stressful thoughts out of the bedroom.

  • Turn off all yоur electronic devices at least one hour before going to bed

This is a crucial, yet often underestimated thing that affects your sleep.

The reason for it is hiding behind the blue light that your electronic devices emit.

Blue light is bad for both your vision and your brain because can affect your internal body clock.

This way you are not able to fall asleep since your body gets confused and doesn’t know if it’s day or night.

Unfortunately, some people work long hours in front of the computer.

They often don’t have the chance to rest their eyes before going to bed.

Don’t worry!

There is a decision for this problem!

Iris is a software thаt protects thе eyes from harmful blue light.

With Iris, you will get yоur work done and yоu will get your night’s sleep!

It works on all kinds of devices, еven on smartphones!

You should consider downloading a program like Iris if you want tо improve your sleеp.

It’s going to bе a game-changer fоr yоur hеalth and well-being!

Conclusion

Pеople often neglects their sleeping hаbits.

The reason is thаt they do not think sleep is so important.

The truth is thаt not getting enоugh slееp can lead to serious health issues.

For example, weight gain, low productivity levels, depression, mood swaps, and illnesses.

Insomnia can be a dangerous disorder, which you shouldn’t underestimate.

It is advisable to take immediate action when a sign of this disorder appears.

Every single one of the symptoms you must take into account.

Try to incorporate some of the tips mentioned above in yоur dаily rоutine.

Yоu shоuld see thе difference almost immediately!

Working on a computer or staring in your phone for a long time is leading to eye problems that you can fix with blue light glasses!

This is because of the harmful blue light that all kinds of displays emit.  And the eye problems could be minor like an irritation.

But if not taken care of on time, they can grow to cases of dry eyes, bloodshot eyes, blurriness, and even vision loss.

Blue light glasses or also called “computer glasses” are a great option for reducing the affection of the blue light.

They are looking like any other type of glasses, but what is special about them are their lenses.

They have a coating that filters the blue light before it reaches your eyes.

They cannot filter it all, but will definitely reduce the impact of it.

Yet, choosing the best pair of computer glasses takes some precision.

It is of importance to do it right because it concerns the health of your eyes.

In this article, we are going to tell you how to get the perfect pair of blue light glasses.

Why do you need computer glasses?

If you are working all day in front of a computer screen and go back home with puffy eyes, then computer glasses are recommended for you.

But it doesn’t have to be only because you are working.

If you spend a lot of your free time surfing the Net or watching movies, but do not want to ruin your vision, blue light glasses are also an option for you.

Blue light is dangerous to your eyesight because it ruins it with the time passed.

Blue light can be found everywhere nowadays. In LED lamps and especially in electronics.

This kind of light has high energy levels that help it to be able to reach deeper in the human eye, damaging the retina.

The problems that the blue light causes are various and depend on the intensity of the radiation.

The minor problems that occur after some hours of looking into a screen are similar to innocent eye irritations.

But after some time these irritations can grow to bigger problems.

Like red eyes, dry eyes, strained eyes, small headaches, discomfort, and sometimes even teary eyes.

Teary eyes may as well be as a result of a protective reaction of the body to dry eyes.

And dry eyes can occur frequently since the blue light makes people forget to blink.

And when the eyes are not well moisture with tear fluids they get dry and can get scratched by the eyelids.

Furthermore, the blue light can lead to more complex cases and diseases.

Like blurriness, insomnia, and macular degeneration. This is why one must to find any way to get the perception of blue light to a minimum.

How to choose the perfect blue light glasses?

Blue light glasses can be personalized for everybody’s needs.

But there are some important steps to take before buying a pair and putting them on.

Because if one aspect of the glasses isn’t as it has to be, they are going to bring you more harm rather than help.

Here are the essential things you must consider before buying computer glasses

Visit a doctor

It would be good if you book an appointment with an eye care specialist to speak about your problems.

The doctor is going to tell you what is the best option for you and what to look for.

They may even help you with the choice.

Also, you will see if you don’t have any other eye problems that need to be taken care of.

Are you already wearing glasses?

If you already wear glasses or lenses with diopter, then we highly recommend you going to a specialist before buying computer glasses.

And also, you cannot convert your current glasses to computer glasses.

This is because the power of the computer glasses is being measured differently than your regular spectacles.

It depends on the reading length, which is the space between you and the screen.

Consider the colors

Blue light glasses are going to give the display a shade of yellow or red because of the filter on the lenses.

So if you are working with colors then you should consider if you really need computer glasses.

For professions like graphic designers, artists, video makers, photo editors, and others like these it is very important to be cautious about the colors on the screen.

So if you are applying for one of these and still want computer glasses, you must be cautious.

Unless you use the glasses for anything but not drawing.

Is there an alternative to computer glasses?

If you do not want to spend so much money on something that you are not sure you are going to use for much time, then there is another option.

There are programs that filter the blue light on your screen.

They work on the principle of converting the colors from blue to warmer tones.

And they do the same work as any computer glasses would, even better.

Iris is such a blue light filter.

It is an installable software for PCs, smartphones, and tablets.

Iris is even better than computer glasses because you can set the desired intensity of the filter and how much blue light to let out.

Iris is completely ads-free so it isn’t going to interfere with what you are doing.

Unless you set an alarm by yourself that is going to remind you to take a break and rest your eyes.

There are many personalized modes in the program.

You can choose between reading mode, programming mode, movie mode, biohacking mode, and more.

Last words

When you are thinking about whether you need computer glasses or not, you should really consider if they are going to be useful for you.

They must help you and improve your experience while working on a computer.

Not otherwise.

So, if you are not sure whether you need blue light glasses, you could try Iris – the blue light filter for PCs – and see if it is working for you.

Eyesight problems and how to reduce them with Iris

Eyesight problems are the most common underrated cases nowadays.

People think that they are going to pass away as if they have never occurred.

But it is extremely difficult for human eyes to regenerate their cells and to improve.

Almost impossible. Dry eyes and small eye irritations may not be that insignificant as you think.

And if you do not take any action on time, you may damage your vision for good.

In this article, we are going to discuss a variety of eyesight problems. Especially the ones that can be caused by computers and technologies.

Later on, we will show you how to reduce and prevent such problems from happening with Iris – the blue light filter for PCs.

The reason behind eye problems

Technologies with LCDs can generate many eyesight problems to all-ages users.

Teenagers do not lay down their phones and social media feeds. And adults work all day in front of a computer monitor.

Technologies, though, are most dangerous to young children who play video games for hours with their noses glued to the screen.

When a human at a very fragile age consumes blue light there is a higher chance of damaging the eyes.

The main reason for modern technologies to be dangerous is because of the blue light that they radiate off of their screens.

Blue light has highly energized rays that can reach to the core of the human eyes and damage the retina.

Unlike the natural sunlight that mainly consists of red and warm rays, blue light is not healthy for any living being.

And if there was more red light in the displays, they wouldn’t be that unhealthy.

Still, nobody does anything about changing the technology in common-user monitors.

And here comes the reason why more and more people put on glasses and end up with eye diseases.

Types of eye problems caused by Blue light

Red eyes / Red shot eyes

Your eyes could become red with standing out blood vessels due to many reasons.

It could be because of allergies or eye injury. But the constant radiation of the blue light can also irritate your eyes.

It makes the pupils contract like muscles very frequently which tires the eyes.

Also, the blue light has the ability to make people forget to blink. And when you do not blink your eyes won’t lubricate efficiently, which leads to dryness.

Dry eyes

Having dry eyes is a huge discomfort and is very dangerous.

When there is not enough tear fluid to moisture the gentle surface of the eyes, they may get scratched and very irritated.

The feel is painfull and is like looking through sand.

Tears also help for keeping the eyes clean of outer objects that may harm them. Like dust, for example.

Blurriness

After a long period of using any kind of technology, you must have noticed a subtle difficulty in focusing the objects around you.

Since you have been staring at one place for such a long time, your eye muscles had stiffened. And focusing takes more effort.

Watery eyes

Of course, watery eyes can be due again to allergies or an injury.

But apart from depriving your eyes of tears, blue light can also make your eyes teary.

Moreover, if you have had dry eyes, your body may produce an extra amount of tear liquids as a protective reaction.

Insomnia

Human bodies have a natural body clock that works with the cycles of the day and the night.

And our eyes are the perceptive organ that plays a great role in setting up these cycles.

If our eyes perceive an extra amount of light, then our body is going to think that it is daytime.

Which leads to troubles with falling asleep and later to insomnia issues.

This is why doctors tell to cut down device usage to a minimum some hours before going to bed.

But we know that you have some important work to do and tight deadlines to fulfill. And late midnight key tapping is your second nature.

This is why we have a solution to evade all the eye problems we just wrote about and to do your work without any worries and bad consequences.

What is Iris?

Iris is a blue light filter for every kind of device.

It is a program that can be installed on any computer, smartphone, and tablet.

Iris blocks out the blue light emitted from the screen by changing the colors of the pixels.

Instead of emitting blue light, the display is going to emit a friendlier tone of light. Like red, yellow or orange.

Iris works just like any computer glasses but has some more perks included.

You can change the mode of the filter that the program uses.

You can choose between reading, movie, programming, sleeping, biohacking, sunglasses, and dark modes.

Another convenient advantage of the software is that Iris has a break reminder.

This break reminder can be set to appear on a period of time that the user decides.

And during the break the user can ‘flex’ his eyes’ muscles and take a rest from the display, fulfilling the 20-20-20 rule.

Which is: on every 20 minutes to look at objects that are 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Iris is going to remove the blue light from your life for good. It is going to keep your eyes healthy and fresh.

Without blue light, you will be able to sleep again and live a happy and productive life.

Last words

Eyesight problems should not be overlooked, because this could lead to serious diseases. Even to vision loss in the worst case.

Protecting your eyes can be simple with professional blue light filters like Iris.

Which is specially designed to suit everybody’s needs. From kids to students, and from workers to grandparents.

It seems like everybody is running late for somewhere nowadays.

There are always busy people on the streets and multitaskers in life.

But with all of what is going on, we often forget to have a nice and healthy rest.

People stay till late to finish projects and to meet deadlines.

Then wake up early the next morning to go to work.

Usually getting less than the needed 7-8 hours of essential sleep to the human organism. D

o you recognize yourself in this? If the answer is yes, then we are here to help!

In this article, we will see why sleep is so important.

And also how to get a good sleeping schedule that is going to kick off your lifestyle!

Why Is Sleep Important?

Humans have to sleep in order to recharge their bodies for the next big day.

While we sleep, our body uses the opportunity to heal itself and to relax.

Sleep is what keeps us proactive.

If one doesn’t get the needed amount of sleep he/she is going to fall spiritually and physically.

Firstly, the lack of sleep is contributing mostly to the loss of concentration.

And it also brings memory issues.

If the brain hasn’t gotten the rest it needs, then it is going to find a way to get it while your body is at awaken state.

At this state people usually become sleepy and inattentive.

Secondly, your body heals best when you sleep.

This is why when you are sick having a good nap makes you feel a lot better.

And with sleeping, you will gain energy and better coordination.

Your reflexes are going to be faster and there is a higher chance of you finding a desire to do sports and exercise.

Plus, you will be able to motivate yourself more easily.

Thirdly, sleep prevents cardinal diseases and obesity.

Sleep regulates healthy blood pressure which prevents heart problems and risks.

It also aids in better functions of the hormones and controls weight gain.

Sleeping is the time when your body strengthens its immune system.

And the immune system is what protects you from sickness and diseases.

And lastly, sleep is contributing to your overall feelings.

It beats depression and helps with mental problems.

The lack of sleep leads to grumpiness and bad moods that can affect your social life and job.

If you have had a night of a good rest, then you are more likely to be friendly and appealing.

What Causes Insomnia?

Insomnia is a state of constant lack of sleep and is a health condition.

But it can be cured without medicaments in most of the cases.

Insomnia can be caused by numerous reasons. Like overthinking and stress.

Additionally, leading an unhealthy lifestyle affects directly the quality of sleep you get.

And living healthy isn’t just down to eating vegetables and exercising.

It includes also looking after your mental health and sleep, because these two are crucial to your wellbeing, too.

Insomnia can also be caused by the impact of the technologies on your eyes and overworking after midnight.

Technologies are harmful not only to your eyes, though.

The blue light that is emitted by their screens can directly affect your sleeping experience.

This is because of the ability of our eyes to perceive light.

And the excessive amount of it makes our brain believe that it is daytime, which affects the production of melatonin.

The hormone of sleep.

Insomnia can also be caused by more serious health problems and for these reasons, it is best to consult with a specialist.

But if you are not sure, you can try the methods below.

5 Methods for Better Sleep:

Get used to a consistent sleeping regime every day

The human body, just like every other living being, has a natural clock, too.

It is not in such a strong connection to nature and its season changes like with animals.

But can be regulated by the way we live. It is called “circadian rhythm” and remembers the usual time you go to bed and when you wake up.

This is why at certain hours during the day you feel more sleepy than others and vice versa.

And if you want to get along with your circadian rhythm, then you have to put on a decent sleeping regime.

You have to go to bed at a consistent time every day and wake up around similar hours.

This way you will teach your body when it is time for rest and going to sleep will come much easier.

Getting used to a sleeping regime may not come fast, but give it time. It will be worth it!

Prepare your body for sleep

Apart from relying on your circadian rhythm for falling asleep faster, you can tire your body through the day.

The best way to do that is by exercising, but not right before going to bed.

It is going to get your heart rate high and this will prevent you from falling asleep fast. Instead, do your best in the time before and around noon.

Apart from exercising you can do other activities that are going to tire your mind, too.

It could be activities like solving quizzes, working, doing homework, etc.

Clear your mind

If you fill your thoughts with various problems, instead of sleeping, you are going to be overthinking.

And this is stressful for the body. Try to meditate and calm your mind.

Clear it of unnecessary problems and leave them for another time so you can get the needed rest.

Reading a book before going to bed also helps for relaxing.

Reading is proven to be lowering blood pressure and also beats down stress.

Enhance the comfort of your bedroom

If you sleep in an uncomfortable place, then you won’t be able to rest well.

Make your bedroom a sleeping paradise for you.

Upgrade your sleeping mattress and the covers.

Change the colors of the walls and aromatize with your favorite scent before going to bed.

Make the experience pleasurable for you.

Reduce blue light impact

As we already noted some lines up, the blue light stops the production of melatonin.

You should put aside all electronics sometime before going to bed.

It could be for one or two hours but that is quite enough for your eyes to rest.

There won’t be anything on the social media that you won’t see on the next morning.

But if anyway you are obliged to work on your computer in every spare minute, then you can try to cut the impact of the blue light.

The reduction of blue light can happen in several ways.

One of them is to install a blue light filter for PC, like Iris.

Iris is a program that works on all kinds of devices, even on smartphones.

It blocks the blue light and makes the screen eye-friendly and more healthy.

You can be sure that with Iris you won’t lose your sleep and still have some work done at the end of the day.

Iris can be set on several working modes, depending on your likings.

It has a reading mode, a programming model, a movie mode, biohacking mode, and many more!

Iris is suitable for all ages. From student to grandparents.

For everybody that uses a computer because the health of people’s eyes is important for their wellbeing and healthy life.

Last words

Sleeplessness can be cured with some simple methods that should become a habit.

Remember to keep your mind relaxed and to keep your eyes healthy.

With a blue light filter like Iris, you won’t even have to think about it, but after some days the difference will be obvious.

Do you feel constant discomfort in your eyes due to long hours of staying in front of a computer? If so, then you should work out for your eyes.

Did you know that you could improve your eyes’ health by doing several simple exercises? Even when you are at work?

Working on a computer or using your smartphone for too long damages your eyes.

It is due to the blue light that these devices’ displays give off.

Blue light is not on the light specter humankind is used to perceive by nature.

Humans live by the warm-colored kind of light that comes from the sun.

blue light

There is blue light in nature, too. But artificial blue light from computers causes damage to the eyes.

Like red eyes, eye strain, headaches, and even vision loss.

Here in this article, we are going to show you some easy eye exercises to help you improve your eyes’ health.

What is work out for eyes?

Human eyes are like muscles. If one doesn’t use them for a long time, they will grow weak.

While you are working for hours on your computer, you stare in one place for a long time.

This creates stress on your eyes. Eye exercises are a great way to relieve pain and dryness.

Each of the examples here is excellent for keeping the surface of your eyes well moisturized.

This is important because dryness is destructive for your vision.

Moreover, blue light makes you forget to blink, which is crucial for the well being of the eyes.

This is why blinking is the first exercise on our list you can do to work out for eyes.

Eye exercises:

1. Blink

Blinking is the most natural remedy for your eyes.

Frequent blinking for one minute is going to relieve that dryness you have been feeling during the whole day.

When you blink, you spread the tear fluids that your lacrimal glands produce all over the surface of the eye.

Tears clean and sharpen your vision, helping you to see better.

Without good moisture, your eyes are going to grow dry and red.

This is because the eyelids will scratch the sensitive surface of the eyes and make them hurt.

2. Look from side to side

After you finish with the one-minute of blinking, start looking slowly from right to left and vice versa.

Not only will you moisture a bigger part of your eyes but that way you will flex the stiff muscles.

Repeat that exercise with the same movements, but for up and down.

3. Look at far objects

Lots of people, and especially children, suffer from nearsightedness. This is due to that they spend most of their lives indoors.

And indoors they do tasks that do not need them to look farther than their hands outstretched.

Staring at that display the whole day is the same thing. If possible take a stroll outside in a park or look out of a window.

But if there isn’t such an opportunity, the opposite wall of the room will do fine.

Look for some minutes at different far objects. And for better flexibility of your eyes, you could try something else.

Like choosing a spot or a faraway object and one that is close to you.

Then change your focus from the one to the other. This exercise is going to help your longsightedness.

Another fine option is to put your thumb in front of your face and to focus only on it.

Then to start moving it farther and closer to your face without looking at something else, but your thumb.

4. Draw an eight

But if you do not want to look weird waving your thumb around in the office, try something else.

It could be drawing an imaginable eight or an infinity symbol in the air with your eyes.

This is another activity for both moisturizing your eyes and flexing them.

Yet, if this is not hard enough for you, draw your name with your eyes in the air. Trace every letter and repeat it several times.

5. Close eyes and rest

Sometimes eye problems can be solved with as little as closing your eyes for a minute or two. Let them rest.

If you do not feel productive during this activity, use the time to order the tasks you have to do during the day.

Or take a break from your work, meditate and charge yourself with some energy.

6. Look in the dark

Brightly lit spaces, especially with artificial light, are unhealthy to human eyes.

Sometimes even the sun is dangerous, this is why we wear sunglasses.

Artificial lightning bit by bit damages our eyes, but we cannot live without it.

The best way to oppose its damage is to spend some time without any lightning at all.

Turn the lights off, take a rest and spend some minutes staring in the dark.

Unlike animals, humans cannot see in the dark. Our eyes need light to perceive the world that surrounds us.

Looking in the dark is going to wake up the nerves of your eyes at the sudden lack of light.

7. Do a massage

Most of the time, stress that has gathered in the muscles around your eyes is guilty of the discomfort you feel.

And relieving it can happen with some minutes spent on massaging these areas. Usually, the affected muscles are:

  • At the base of the nose
  • Around the eyebrows
  • On your forehead and temples
  • At the upper side of the cheekbones

Other easy ways to preserve your vision

If you desire to be serious about eye care, there is more than just exercising.

First, you should think of the things that harm your eyes and then the ways to prevent this from happening.

One of the greatest causes of eye strain is blue light.

However, if your bread depends on your working in front of a computer all day, then there are few options for you.

One of them is to decrease the impact of the blue light.

You could do that by visiting a specialist and ask for special computer glasses.

This kind of glasses filters part of the blue light. They are constructed with special lenses and are only for computer use.

But there is a simpler way to block blue light without having to buy expensive glasses.

There is a thing called: a blue light filter for PCs and smartphones.

Iris is such a program. It is going to filter the light that comes out of your display like all computer glasses do.

It is even going to remind you to take a rest, during which you could do some of the work out for the eyes that we discussed above.

So, Iris and your eyes’ exercises are going to complete each other perfectly!

Last words

If not taken care of at the very beginning, a simple case of dry eyes could lead to damaging your vision and putting glasses on.

Doing work out for your eyes is definitely going to improve your eyes’ health.

The wellbeing of your eyes is of great importance to your productivity and health.

And with this article, we prove to you that taking care of your eyes is as easy as a blink!

What causes eye pain?

In this article, we will look at pains and causes and how to prevent them.
We know you have heard about quite a few eye-related diseases, but we won’t dig that much, but we’ll just give you tips on how to protect yourself.

Eye pain

Eye pain is a common symptom that accompanies almost every eye disease.
Often the pain in the eyes is felt as a headache and the patient cannot determine whether the source of pain is the eyes or the head.
Headaches should be treated with particular care and an eye exam.
Some diseases also give eye symptoms, which causes the patient to seek help first with an ophthalmologist.

Migraine is an example of such a disease.
In some diseases of the cornea, sclera or uvea, one of the symptoms is a pain.
While in conjunctiva inflammation – there is redness, tearing, burning, feeling of foreign body, but rarely painful sensation.

In other parts of the eye, pain occurs in the eyelids, the lacrimal tract, and the eye muscles.
These structures belong to the appendages of the eye.
Yes, everything here slows you down and it may sound boring, but unfortunately, it is a very important part and we need to be able to defend ourselves.
The causes of eye pain can be very diverse and not even detectable.
That’s why we decided to introduce you to computer vision syndrome.

It sounds scary, but it’s treatable and we can even prevent it.

Let’s start with five signs of diagnosis first by ourselves

✔️Eye fatigue:

Eye fatigue can be detected by quickly focusing on distant or close objects.
If you are overworked you will feel a slight pain in the eye area. If things get worse, namely eye fatigue, it can lead to constant pain or discomfort around the eyes.

✔️Irritated eyes:

The eyes are a sensitive organ that needs help in certain cases.
One is eye irritation.
At first, you may feel irritation in the area around the iris, and if the condition worsens, it may even become burning, which is far from pleasant.
It may even make your eyes significantly flush and look like you’ve been crying for a few days and not really.
All these symptoms are signs that your eyes are dry.
And with the so-called dry eye can have quite unpleasant consequences.

✔️Blurred vision:

There are situations in which the eyes transmit the wrong signals.
This is the case with blurred vision.
This is noticeable when you start to see blurred, even when your eyes look as if they are properly focused.
You may even see a double, which is not very pleasant.
If this is only due to computer vision syndrome, don’t worry.
The blurring will disappear after you rest.

✔️ Headache or vertigo:

When we initially experience headaches or dizziness, each one of us thinks it is because of something that strains us and from there our blood plays on an elevator, it is so, but in many cases, the strain on your eyes can be the cause.
Take care of yourself and if these symptoms persist for several days without improvement, our advice is to consult a doctor.

✔️Neck and shoulder pain:

With visual impairment, the discomfort increases. The body will try to adapt itself subconsciously so you can see better.
This results in a bad posture that will affect your neck, shoulders and even your back. Hugging brings with it additional diseases that cover the waist, bones, and nerves.

Fortunately, it is possible to recover from computer vision syndrome, but the sooner you catch the problem, the faster the recovery process will be and easier.

Five options for treatment

It is good after we have listed 5 major signs of eye pain causes let’s also mention 5 options for treatment or prevention.
The causes of eye pain are many and varied, so we need to be prepared with different protections against them.

💠Blink:

You can experience rapid relief by using eye drops or so-called artificial tears.
Have you noticed that when you stand in front of a computer for a long time, you sometimes forget to blink?
We know what it sounds like, but it’s true, it is due to your exposure to blue light and the consequence is the so-called dry eye.
With less blinking, there is less humidity in the eye, so try to do it more often.

💠Air humidity:

Air humidity is also quite important.
Check the humidity levels of the room where you work on your computer.
The drier the environment, the faster the moisture will evaporate from your eyes.
The ideal humidity for your computer is between 30 and 50%.
No more, no less.

💠Train your eyes:

Did you know that you can train your eyes?
Have a short workout for your eye muscles.
We hope you have heard about the 20-20-20 rule, but it is not a problem.
This is an effective way of reducing eye strain caused by long screening.
The idea is that every 20 minutes are spent in front of the screen, look at something that is about 20 meters away, for at least 20 seconds.
Try it, it really helps.

💠Distance between me and monitor:

The distance between you and the monitor is also a good rule of thumb.
It should be about 70-80 cm away from your eyes.
In addition, the top of your monitor should be at eye level, as you should look down while working, not up. This will reduce the tension in the eye muscles.

💠Screen brightness matters:

When in doubt that it is properly chosen, stick to the rule: the brighter the better.
The brighter screen causes your pupils to contract, which increases the focal range and allows your eyes to focus on the screen with less effort.

Much to remember, but one click is enough for Iris

Don’t forget to do them from time to time, but we at Iris will only help you with your one go.
Iris is software that will help you control the transmission of blue light.

You will be able to work all day on your computer without having to remember the 20-20-20 rule or how often you blink.
Of course, Iris has a lot of different settings, just for your enjoyment.

Whether you are watching a movie, playing your favorite game, or working for a long time, the most important thing is to keep your eyes healthy.
The first step is yours, from there on Iris will take care of you, and maybe your loved ones.
Our eyes are the window to the world, let us manage to keep it as clean as possible together.

Thanks to Iris, the causes of eye pain become less and less until they disappear completely over time.

End words

So all of the above is something you need to do to protect yourself.
We wrote this down to inform you and show you how you can help yourself.
And try to accept Iris as your friend or your army against the blue light order to reduce the causes of eye pain and improve your healthy sleep.

Eye protection doesn’t necessarily include glasses.

Our eyes’ health is essential to our well being.

If our eyes are swollen, feeling dull or are becoming red this is going to affect our emotions.

And this leads to a low dedication to our work or daily life.

This is why every one of us has to pay great attention to them being healthy and on a regular basis.

And our eye protection doesn’t only include going to the doctor every week or so.

It is all down to several easy habits that are going to improve your eyes’ health in a short time!

In this article, we are going to show you some of them and explain why they are good for you.

What is harmful to our eyes?

Throughout the day you hurt your eyes in many ways that you do not notice.

For example, you may notice subtle discomfort between your eyes at some point during the day.

Also, pressure in the muscles or something unnatural like redness or swollen eyelids.

The things that cause such events are going to surprise you with their simplicity.

Take a look at the usual reasons behind these eye problems you may be having:

  • Artificial lights

Often LED lamps are in the wrong color temperature (usually blue).

This kind of light is opposite to the warm red light that the sun gives us by nature.

LED lamps are everywhere around us – in the lightning in our homes, in our offices, at school, and on the street.

LED lights cause the most damage to our circadian rhythm.

The circadian rhythm is also called our ‘natural clock’. It has an account for our sleeping and waking cycles.

To add more, LEDs cause eye dryness and redness, and may even lead to vision damage if you do not take action in time.

To prevent such an unpleasant event, our advice is to convert to lighting that won’t hurt your eyes that much.

Do it in your home and workplace if possible. Aim for ‘warm’ colored LED lamps.

The most affected by artificial lightning and LED lamps are children and adolescents.

  • Reading in a dim room

As much strong artificial lightning is bad, dimness is also harmful to our eyesight.

When the eyes do not get enough light to function well, they tire easier.

Poor lighting is not such a problem when you work on a computer or anything like that, but when you read a physical book.

It is best to read at natural daily light near a window or outside.

  • Using computers, tablets, and mobile phones

There is no way to stop using such technologies as our computers or smartphones, and still, be a part of the world.

Without a doubt, we people are dependant on them. But, such technologies with LCD displays are injurious to our health.

That is because of the blue light that they emit whether we want it or not.

About the blue light. What is it?

All electronic devices that have a display radiate blue light.

This kind of light is on the violet end of the spectrum. It has high energization in comparison to the red natural lights.

This means that blue light is working its way deeper into the human eyes and this harms them.

Exposing your eyes to blue light for a longer period of time leads to many different problems.

Like retinal damage and macular degeneration, for example.

How to deal with blue light?

Some people cope with blue light radiation with special computer glasses.

Eye protection glasses filter the harmful light rays and look like any other glasses and you can choose any frames that you like.

The thing that is special to them is the lenses. They filter up to half of the harmful light from different displays.

Eye protection glasses are making the colors of a display look a little warmer.

This is why when you look through them the display may look a little yellow. You can buy these glasses from every certificated optics.

But make sure you consult with a specialist first.

However, for eye protection, you do not need to buy expensive computer glasses to maintain your eyes’ health.

If you are having only minor complaints you could try to fight them by yourself.

Here are some effortless to do habits that will help you keep your eyes healthy:

  • The 20-20-20 rule

This rule is very efficient.

You could do it by taking a short break every 20 minutes and looking at objects that are at least 20 feet away from you.

Or to look around and flex your eyes’ muscles. Because the long-time spent staring at one point has put on stress on your eyes.

Also, the color of green helps a lot to relieve the eyes and also mental stress.

  • Less time in the front computer

If you have the option to do so, reduce the time you spend in front of your computer.

For example, work on it no more than two hours and then leave it aside for some time.

Also, try to organize your work as much as possible and try not to get distracted by any unneeded activities.

This way you will get your work done for as little time as possible.

Anyway, if you cannot get away from your devices and still do not want to buy computer glasses, you could install the Iris software.

Iris is a program that you can install on your computer and your Android/iOS devices.

Iris blocks out all the blue light from the display efficiently.

Plus that it gives you the opportunity to work for hours and not feel any ache or discomfort.

With Iris, you are going to be able to choose from various options.

Like for example to launch a timer that is going to remind you to take a break.

And the best of all is that this software doesn’t have disturbing ads and won’t stop you from doing your job.

It is even going to help you to be more productive and stay fresh throughout the whole day.

Last words

In conclusion, it is not so difficult to protect your eyes with as much as a little effort and easy habits.

With Iris, you are going to kickstart your eye protection plan and not long after the effect is going to be visible.

Introduction

Do you forget to take care of the eyes during your daily life? There are some easy eye exercises you can do at any time.

In the big hectic world, we are living in it is very important to be able to sit down and unwind for a few minutes.

Many people consider taking a break to be scrolling through social media, which of course is not even close to actually resting.

Most of us are glued to our screens on a daily basis.

As cool as computers and smartphones may be, they can also do damage to your health and in particular – your eyes.

It’s important to use your breaks in the most efficient and healthy way.

So instead of staring at the display on your device, you can do some exercises that can help and improve your vision.

Eye exercises

The simple ones

When I was 7 years old I went to the ophthalmologist for the first time.

The doctor was a very polite lady who prescribed me a pair of glasses and added that it would be beneficial to do some eye exercises every day for a few minutes just to make sure my eyes won’t get any worse.

These exercises helped improve my eyesight quite a bit.

I have listed some of them below. All you need is some paper and a chair.

1. Take a piece of paper, cut a small square from it and color it black.

Sit down, put it approximately 8 inches (ca. 20 centimeters) away and stare at it for a few seconds.

Look away and then shift your gaze back to the colored square. Repeat 5 times.

2. Draw a big horizontal eight on a piece of paper. Sit down and distance the sheet 8 inches away.

Move your eyes along this figure without moving your head. Repeat 5 times.

3. Draw some zigzag lines. They should look like a cardiogram. Sit down and put the sheet approx. 8 inches away.

Start moving your eyes along the lines from one end to the other. Repeat 5 times.

You can do these exercises without actually drawing the lines and the figures.

When I was a child it was harder for me to imagine what was supposed to be on the paper.

If you feel like you have a big imagination, there is no need to draw them.

You could draw them at home and bring them anywhere with you.

You just need somewhere to sit and concentrate (what better way to spend your lunch break?).

Norbekov’s method

Mirzakarim Norbekov is a famous writer from Uzbekistan.

In his books, he talks about alternative medicine and how we can heal our bodies using our minds and nature.

His methods are deemed questionable by few. Nevertheless, his exercises can still be useful even if you don’t agree with his work.

These are some of his well-known exercises:

1. “Look up and down”

Keep your head straight, gaze directed toward the ceiling.

Imagine you are moving your eyes pointing to the inside of your skull (freaky, right?).

Now look down. Bring your attention to the thyroid – imagine you are looking at it. Perform 8-10 times in each direction.

2. “Ticker”

Look to the left – you should have the wall insight. Bring attention to the back of your left ear.

Look to the right – you should have the wall insight. Bring attention to the back of your right ear. Perform 8-10 times in each direction.

3. The third exercise is left without a name

You should look to the left, then look straight, after that you look to the right and then look straight again.

Perform 8-10 times in each direction.

Norbekov also advises doing some easy gymnastics, which can help you improve your overall health in addition to your eyesight.

All of these exercises are taken from his book “The experience of a fool who had an epiphany about how to get rid of his glasses” – if you are interested to learn more about his teachings.

For busy people

If you are short on time I’d suggest you stick to the most popular and time-effective eye exercises:

  • The first one is the 20-20-20 rule which has already been mentioned in the blog, but for those of you who haven’t heard of it, this exercise is very easy to follow: every 20 minutes look at something 20 feet (ca. 6 centimeters) away for 20 seconds.

I found the next eye exercise when I started practicing yoga in my free time. At the end of every class we do a routine called “palming”:

  • Rub your hands together until they are warm enough. Close your eyes, then put your palms on your eyelids – do this very carefully, don’t rub your or press your hands too hard. Take a few deep breaths – make sure you feel calm and relaxed. Think of anything that makes you happy. Once you start seeing black, remove your hands.
    Repeat a few times.

Another exercise that is based on my yoga experience is treating the eyelids:

  • Sit comfortably. Massage your lower eyelids gently with your ring fingers. Start with the inner edge of the lower eyelid and gradually move outwards. Massage the eyebrows in a similar way after you have finished with the lower lids.
This can be very rough on your eyes because of the lack of moisture. Therefore, when you work or study make sure to take a few minutes to detach yourself from the screen and blink.

Conclusion

To sum up, I’d recommend to anyone who is interested in his well-being to do at least two of these exercises а day, regardless if he has glasses or not.

These exercises are going to keep your eyes healthy.

You should train your eye muscles the way you train your arms and legs – they will get stronger and you will be less likely to develop further vision problems.

However, be sure to talk to your doctor first (especially if you have more serious problems) and don’t forget to wear your glasses!

Although the above-mentioned exercises will improve your vision, I would still highly suggest you to download the Iris software (or app) so that you can protect your eyes even when you are working on your electronic devices.

As simple as it may sound, blinking is another great way of taking care of your eyes.

It is not uncommon to forget to blink while staring at your computer or smartphone.

In the last couple of years, blue light blocking glasses have become very popular.

Especially among people who have to sit in front of a computer all day.

While some swear by it, others are sceptical about the real effects of those glasses.

What is the truth though?

Introduction

As much as we would like to answer this question simply, we are unable to do so.

This is due to the fact that results from research are contradictory.

However, we have gathered information from reliable sources which can give us a better understanding on how blue light blocking glasses work.

And do they really work?

What is blue light?

In the beginning, we should explain what blue light is.

It is a short-length visible light from the colour spectrum.

Blue light is found naturally in the sun and is responsible for making us stay awake and upbeat.

So, if we are exposed to blue light even after sundown, our circadian rhythm will most likely go crazy.

In turn, this will result in sleep disturbances.

The sun is not the only source of blue light.

The latter is emitted from the screens of all our devices, including e-books and LED lights in particular.

Therefore you should really reconsider scrolling the social media before bed or reading a digital book. But more on that later on!

What are the glasses, who block the blue light?

The principle of the blue light blocking glasses is simple: there are filters in the lenses, blocking or absorbing the blue light (sometimes UV light as well) from getting through.

This way they reduce the blue light you are exposed to.

If you use a computer or other device in the evening, glasses are said to prevent the blue light emitted from the screen from keeping you awake.

Do the glasses, who block the blue light improve sleep?

One of the most often mentioned benefits of glasses, who block the blue light is its ability to improve sleep.

As we have clarified above, blue light is closely connected to our sleeping cycle.

In 2019 researchers from Colombia University have conducted a study on whether blue light blocking glasses improve insomnia symptoms.

Even though it found a significant improvement in terms of quality and quantity of sleep, the study can not be fully trusted.

The researchers themselves noted that they failed to measure the actual melatonin levels.

This means the better sleep could be influenced by other factors and not (only) the glasses.

However, a study with shift workers in the post centre of Quebec also showed increased sleep efficacy and decreased sleep fragmentation.

8 shift workers wore blue light blocking glasses in a time period of 2 weeks.

Their wrist activity and records were monitored.

As we can see, more data is needed in order to say clearly if blue light blocking glasses improve sleep or it is rather a combination of elements.

Blue light blocking glasses and digital eye strain

According to Rahul Khurana, M.D., an ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon in Northern California and spokesperson for the AAO, digital eye strain is the biggest problem of the time spent in front of a device’s screen.

He says that it is not caused by blue light but rather by focusing on a single object for too long.

But do not worry – you can prevent digital eye strain with a few simple exercises!

Check them out in one of our previous articles!

It is also unlikely that blue light blocking glasses will protect your eyes from any lasting damage.

This is due to the fact that it is yet unproven whether blue light actually damages our eyes.

Khurana thinks that “It doesn’t make sense to spend money on something that has no real benefit.”.

If you still want to give the blue light blocking glasses a go but wonder if there are any risks.

Khurana says there is no evidence for such risks since this kind of glasses has not been studied enough.

However, it is possible that wearing the blue light blocking glasses at night strains your eyes in a different way.

Blue light blocking glasses vs. Iris

After we have listed what is said to be the benefits of the blue light blocking glasses, we will compare them to our software, Iris, who block the blue light.

Unlike on a blue light blocking software (such as Iris), you can not regulate the quantity of the emitted blue light.

At night it should be lower, while it can be higher during the day.

Iris allows you to control how much blue light you are exposed to.

Furthermore, Iris has several different modes and types and you can customize it a lot.

Glasses can not be regulated in any ways which make them, more or less, not as effective.

A very unpleasant scenario – you can break your glasses.

Yes, there are some quite cheap pairs but a new one every two weeks or even a month? Does not sound good.

Plus, you can not be sure of their quality and if they really do have a filter in the lenses.

Can you break Iris? No, you certainly can not.

And you certainly should not worry that you will sit on top of it, drop it or your kids will run over it. It is always safe on your computer.

What is more, imagine the following: you are in a hurry and the morning.

If you do not go out in a minute, you are going to be super late for work.

You put the most important things in your bag – your phone, your wallet and your keys.

You remember that you forgot your blue light blocking glasses when you are already in front of the computer.

What do you do then? In contrary, you can never forget Iris.

Simply because it is on your computer and you can turn it on whenever you want!

Conclusion

Based on the whole article and especially the previous comparison, we can conclude that Iris is definitely a better option than a pair of blue light blocking glasses.

Having the chance of being broken or forgotten, blue light blocking glasses are fragile and unproven to really fulfil people’s expectations.

If you think you feel an effect from them, it could be just placebo.

As opposed to the “special” glasses, Iris has proven quality and ability to reduce the amount of blue light emitted from your screen.

Therefore we highly recommend downloading it and seeing actual improvements in your virtual experience any time of the day!

I know what you think, how painful can eye yoga be for the eyes.

Skeptical thinking will probably mislead you.

So take a look at the positive and let your eyes enjoy it.

In theory, you can find your harmony and develop your imagination.

But in practice, you will thank your eyes, as crazy as it sounds …

I let you see for yourself!

Do we need to know why?

Often in the morning you open your eyes and reach for your smartphone.

You check what time it is, then open unread messages.

You check social networks, you react to everything that impresses you, you like several posts.

Only after 30 minutes of wandering on social networks are you ready to switch to your morning routine.

The truth is that this passive sense of addiction to smart devices puts us in multiple stress.

When we consistently conform to the models that technology builds in us, we do not pay attention to the surrounding world.

According to “Your Sight Matters,” modern screen obsession leads to 1 in 4 eye patients, including blurred vision, insomnia, dizziness, muscle tension, and fatigue.

Think of something else outside the world of the smart machine.

You grab the back of а breakfast cereal and read what it contains while boldly chewing on chocolate balls.

As you brush your teeth, you focus your attention on the sink and then go out into the world beyond computer screens and other digital devices …

What do I want to emphasize?

That your eyes probably won’t get reset, until you pour yourself back into bed.

Eye yoga – a natural cure

Reach out to the diversity of movement and relaxation of the eyes, and not only.

Rest your mind at times, try to soothe your heartbeat and breathing, be your own medicine.

Eye yoga is a system of physical, mental and spiritual practices designed to transform the body and mind.

Well, isn’t this a medicine that aims to achieve the liberation we all want?

Now let’s cancel this model, in which we do the opposite.

Set the laziness aside and start with short exercises for the eyes.

Look away, move your eyes in different directions while you are relaxed and in a comfortable position for you.

Of course, you do not have to cross your legs and take a position with your hands in the air.

Don’t do it unless you feel comfortable.

Take it as a warm-up before a real workout.

This will not only prepare the structures that surround the eyes, but also the tissues in the eye.

It will relax the muscles, blood flow will improve the rhythm and contribute more oxygen and nutrients to the tissues.

How does eye yoga work for the eyes?

Eye exercises allow you to learn how to maintain optimum eye health by keeping the eye moist and keeping poor eyesight away.

I will share some “yoga for the eyes” exercises that you can practice at any time you judge.

I also recommend finding a comfortable sitting position or reclining position without distraction.

It is enough for you to be alone in a room or place where you feel free to avoid confusing situations.

The work is about consistency and care, not perfection.

Exercise First – Warm-Up

As I mentioned above, warming up is an important part of any type of exercise.

By increasing eye circulation, this helps to reduce the risk of pain or eye pain during exercise.

How is that?

Very easy, here are the instructions for a good warm-up.

  • Keep your head stationary throughout the exercise.
  • Look forward then up (upper eyelid).
  • Hold for 2-3 seconds, then look down.
  • Hold for 2-3 seconds, then look at the extreme left.
  • Repeat, then look at the extreme right.
  • Start by looking at the endpoints of your eye. You rotate the 4 diagonal angles.
  • Repeat the cycle for 1 minute.

According to Robert Abel, who authored “The Eye Care Revolution”, these short exercises compensate for the muscle development we use to look at close objects.

Exercise Two – Flexibility

This exercise is intended to improve the flexibility of the eyes.

You can do it openly or closed no matter what.

  • Relax and lookup.
  • Turn your eyes clockwise.
  • Do it slowly, making sure you reach all corners.
  • Do this in 1 minute and turn counterclockwise.

Exercise Third – Switching Focus

This is probably the most commonly performed eye function.

When people depend on goggles, their eyes become more or less lazy, which ultimately leads to a loss of ability.

  • Keep something in small letters (book or newspaper) at a distance of 20 to 30 cm (reading distance).
  • Cover one eye with your hand.
  • Keep the covered eye open to avoid fatigue.

  • Find a sentence of at least 20 feet.
  • Trace its shape for 2-3 seconds (Do not try to squint. Relax your eyes).
  • Repeat steps 4 to 6.
  • After taking 5 minutes, do the same for the other eye and repeat the whole exercise again for 5 minutes.

The exercise can be improvised everywhere, even if you do not have text on hand, it is also possible with the clock on your hand (Keep track of the numbers).

Exercise Four – Deep blinking

This yoga exercise aims to sharpen vision at a distance and also to relax.

You will need a blank wall, a comfy chair and a few capital letters (you can cut a magazine title or make it yourself).

  • Glue the capital letters to the wall and move backward until the letters start to blur. Place the chair in this position.
  • Sit on a chair in a relaxed pose and close your eyes. Take a deep breath and release it slowly.
  • Then take a deep breath and hold. Tighten your muscles throughout your body, including your eyes, face, head, chest, neck, arms,
  • legs and stomach. Keep your muscles tight for about five seconds.

  • At the end of the five seconds, simultaneously exhale quickly through the mouth, releasing all the tension of your body with your eyes wide open.
  • Look at the letters and they should be clear in a few seconds.
  • Breathe slowly and keep the letters cool (blinking required).
  • Look at them for a second or two until they blur again.
  • Repeat steps 3 to 6 for 2 minutes.

You will be surprised how advanced you can be if you do this every day.

Exercise Five – Palming

Get some rest after the exercises.

Abel studies say that our photoreceptors are destroyed and restored every minute.

“The simplest way to overcome eye stress is to take a deep breath, cover your eyes and relax.”

You can close your eyes and cover your eyes with your hands. Do not put your hands near your eyes, they should be in the glass of your palm.

Hold the position for 1 minute or as long as you want.

A few closing words

Try these 5 eye yoga exercises that will help you to see the positive result in yourself.

They are fun, relaxing and you don’t have to be inside when you want to try them out.

For best results, try doing them when your eyes are still fresh.

Do not rush into artificial light or focus on the screen of your phone, or computer monitor.

Otherwise, use a Screen Filter and do a favor for both your health and your eyes.

Let’s start with that Blue light is everywhereIn fact, sunlight is the main source of blue light.

Blue light sourced by digital devices and has a high energy level and short wavelength, emitting visible light that is seen by the human eye and over time, can be extremely harmful.

Blue light can harm our cornea and skin resulting in macular degeneration. The macula is part of the retina, which is a vital part of our vision, without it, we cannot see. And the effects are:

Blue light Filter protects our eyes from direct contact with the blue light coming out of our screens. Because the eye isn’t that good to blocks the blue light like the red light. With Blue light Filter app, you will feel more energetic and have a better sleep.

I recommend you Iris software, which is the best program that you can install on your devices for each type of Windows. It will help you to protect yourself from the harmful blue light.

It has a different type of modes such as Sleep, Read, Biochacker, and etc. Your eyes will be Thank you!

well-balanced diet is the key to keeping your eyes healthy and may help reduce your risk to wear correcting glasses or surgery. Let’s start with the two main nutrients.

  • lutein
  • zeaxanthin

You can find lutein and zeaxanthin in green leafy vegetables: kale and spinach. Kale contains many important vitamins, nutrients, and minerals. These nutrients may help to prevent serious eye conditions such as age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. it will not let the harmful blue light reach the retina.

You’ll also find these nutrients in orange- and yellow-colored fruits and vegetables. You can add to your diet:

Carrots are good for eye health. Like egg yolks, carrots have vitamin A beta carotene. Vitamin A safeguards the cornea. The cornea is the surface of the eye. And the eggs including also zinc, which contributes to the health of the retina. They are very extremely versatile for eating. So you can include them in breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Foods that are very high in Omega 3.

  • Salmon is one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet.
  • Oysters
  • Chia Seeds
  • Walnuts

Omega-3 fatty acids may help protect adult eyes from macular degeneration and dry eye syndrome. Essential fatty acids decreasing the risk of high eye pressure and glaucoma.

After you know those things you can improve your eyesight, but there are many more things that you can do to prevent surgery or blindness.

You may also try Blue Light Filter, while you working on PC or other device, so that will stop the blue light emitted from the monitor. Iris Software can reduce the light and other options for the type of mode provided for reading, gaming, sleeping and etc.

1. Eye issues caused by Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). It includes

  • Eyestrain
  • Blurry Vision
  • Discomfort
  • Headachе

..and many problems more, which affects 50% and 90% of people who work at a computer screen.

2. Blue light is coming from computers and LED lights and is linked also to something called Computer Vision. Our eyes aren’t really designed to be good at blocking blue light and this is the problem but not the conclusion.

3. Iris software solves the problem of Computer Vision Syndrome. This is a Blue Light Filtering software, which blocking the Blue Light from the monitor and provide better sleep and comfortable working in front of any device.

Nowadays we live in a modern world, surrounded by technologies without which we cannot. All of us spend a lot of time in front of computers or smartphones, but there is a hidden threat, called blue light.

As a start, I will give some advice on how to protect your eyes, because eyesight is one of the most important things you can do to help maintain your quality of life.

Eat healthily

Food including lutein or zeaxanthin, which are found in many fruits and vegetables, including mango, broccoli, green beans, and spinach.

Fish rich in Omega-3 may reduce your risk of developing macular degeneration. Such as:

  • tuna
  • salmon
  • trout
  • mackerel

Do exercises

Simple as stretching or yoga at home in the morning before work. Also walking around 30 minutes every day will not hurt.

Blink often

The golden rule is 20–20–20. Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Install Blue Light Filter

As said earlier the blue light emitted from computer monitors is a big threat, which can bring you macular degeneration followed by dry eyes, headache, and insomnia.

Blue light filter is a program, which controls the brightness from the screen, changes the screen colors and lowering the blue light.

Iris helps solve the issue by shifting the colors and controlling the amount of blue light emitted by the monitor, helping the brain regain control of its natural production of melatonin and increasing sleep quality.

Blue light filter is a program, which blocks the blue light sourcing from monitors and can change the screen colors. If you staring at a computer all day and don’t use it then the harmful blue light will pass through the cornea and lens and reaches the retina

  • You will start to feel eye strain
  • Your eyes will be dry and you may start to have symptoms of CVS (Computer Vision Syndrome)
  • Your circadian rhythms will be disrupted

Blue light filter protects the retina from the vigorous rays from straining the eye. Also, you can choose different types of mode while you watching a movie, reading an Ebook, playing a game and etc. This is how you choosing the mode.

I recommend that has excellent blue light software is called Iris software.

You won’t need glasses and you can get the software for many different operating systems such as Windows 10.

If you work on a laptop all day, you may notice that your eyes get dry followed by tiredness and headache. Staring at a monitor a lot of hours can damage your eyes and bring you macular degeneration, for which you need to be worried.

Here are some tips about how to prevent those issues. If you doing them daily, you would experience the difference.

1.The gold rule. Use the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look away from your computer at an object about 20 feet away.

2. Use proper lighting. Eye strain often is caused by excessively bright light either from outdoor sunlight. Also, if possible, position your computer screen so windows are to the side, instead of in front or behind it.

3. Blink often. Blinking exercises can relieve strain and help dry eyes. Make it a habit to close your eyes when you are thinking or doing something that doesn’t require your vision.

4. Install Blue Light Filter. For great comfort when you work on laptop you might benefit from Iris Software. It will reduce the eye strain and dryness because it is blocking the blue light exposing from the monitor.

Don’t take your eyes for granted. Take them seriously and care about them like the most important part of your body. Following these tips, you can provide excellent vision:

Eat well: Good eye health starts with the food on your plate.

✅ Nutrients: Omega-3 fatty acids such as:

✅ Salmon

✅ Chia Seeds

✅ Walnuts and etc.

lutein, zinc, and vitamins C and E might help ward off age-related vision problems like macular degeneration and cataracts. And here are some other examples:

  • Green leafy vegetables like spinach, kale, and collards
  • Oranges and other citrus fruits or juices
  • Eggs, nuts, beans, and other nonmeat protein sources

2. Quit Smoking. It makes you more likely to get the same problem as a macular degeneration. Smoking damage your optic nerve. The less you keep smoking, the bigger is the chance to quit the cigarettes.

3. Blinking exercises. Close your eyes for 5 seconds and open them. While your eyes are closed, also try to squeeze your eyelids. Repeat it.

Take a break every 20 minutes to focus on an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

4. Set up your screen. The screen should be 20 inches away from your eyes and at a 10-20 degree angle. Adjust the brightness of your screen to be comfortable for your eyes because light conditions are important. Also, the natural light has to come from the side not behind you or in front of you

5. Reduce and stop the blue light from monitors. The devices that you using exposing your eyes to hight energy of blue light. It’s called blue light because the wavelengths emitted are near the bluer part of the spectrum. This harmful light brings you sleeplessness, headache and dry eyes.

Almost everyone knows that blue light is bad for our health. But only a few know how exactly.

First, let’s start with a short explanation: NOT ALL blue light is bad light. The main source of blue light is our Sun and we see blue light every single day. Without being harmed. So it’s important that everyone understands in the first place that avoiding all blue light is:

  1. impossible
  2. unnecessary

However, when it comes to the blue light, that all digital devices emit, it’s not so unharmful. Basically blue light controls our circadian rhythm – it helps our brain understand when it’s a day and when it’s night.

So when no blue light passes through or eyes – our brain indicates that it’s time for sleep. And we get sleepy and go to bed.

When you sit in front of your PC till late at night, you are exposed to blue light, your body can’t understand that it’s already night and you have a hard time falling asleep after that.

This is a very simple explanation of how blue light affects our sleep.

You can read more about it here: https://iristech.co/blue-light/

There are a few things you can try out in order to reduce the negative effects of blue light:

  • buy blue light blocking glasses
  • buy monitor protector
  • buy a blue light filter

Blue light blocking glasses

Blue light blocking glasses can help you a lot, but I don’t like the idea that I can’t customize them.

Monitor protector

Once again, you can’t customize it, plus – once you put it on, you can’t remove it for a minute when you need to see the real colors on the screen.

Blue light filter

The best option for me – I can customize it, I can stop it whenever I want to, I can do anything I want to. I use a blue light filter called Iris.

Whether you choose glasses, protector, filter, or something else, you better hurry. Blue light is not something you can underestimate. You better start taking care of your eyes now.

First, let’s ask ourselves why we need digital detox: because technology has become toxic for us.

Here I don’t mean only that we have become antisocial. I mean literally that it’s toxic.

Blue light from the digital devices messes up our circadian rhythm and our brain doesn’t define anymore when it’s a day or a night. Which is why we have sleep problems. Monitors have basically destroyed our sleep.

Which is why a Digital Detox can be just you removing the blue light that your screens emit. How?

  • Blue light blocking glasses
  • Monitor protector
  • Blue light filter

Blue light blocking glasses

Blue light blocking glasses can be very useful. What I don’t like about them is that I can’t customize them. I can’t control how much blue light I’ll get and how much will get blocked.

Monitor protector

Here it’s the same. They do block parts of the blue light but I can’t control anything. And if I want to see the real colors for a while I can’t just take it off. This is why I don’t like monitor protectors either.

Blue light filter

A blue light filter is the best solution for me. If you want to detox yourself from the negative impact of technologies – block the blue light with a blue light filter. The one I use is Iris – it also controls the PWM Flicker and the brightness of the screen.

Technology doesn’t need to be toxic.

In general, your body needs a dark room for sleep.

This is connected to your circadian rhythm. During the day, when the sun shines, the light, and especially the blue light, “tells” your brain that it’s a day and you are energized and active.

At night, when you don’t see the blue light anymore (I’m talking about the natural blue light that comes from the Sun), your brain understands that it’s night, you get sleepy and you fall asleep.

That’s why sometimes it’s way harder to fall asleep if you’ve been sitting in front of the PC till late. It is because of the blue light that you are tired but unable to fall asleep.

Blue light comes not only from our computers but also from the lightbulbs. So sleeping with your lights on may make falling asleep harder.

However, just like some people have already said in the previous comments – if you have some kind of phobia, or are afraid of the darkness, I’m pretty sure that falling asleep in the dark will be way harder for you. So you can try using bulbs that emit more yellow light so that it’s both light in the room, but you are not exposed to blue light at night.

On your PC you can try using a blue light filter, I do too. Mine is called Iris and I’m very happy with it 🙂

I hope my answer was helpful.

Wish you luck 🙂

The reason you can’t fall asleep until 3 AM might be that you sit in front of a PC/TV till late at night.

All digital devices, as you may know, emit blue light. In general, blue light is not bad light.

Our Sun is, in fact, the main source of blue light – and it doesn’t harm us.

At night you can’t see the blue light from the Sun, because there is no Sun, right? So it’s not normal to look at the “bright Sun” that your monitor is.

When you do it, your brain doesn’t understand that it’s already night and you don’t feel so sleepy even if you are tired.

What can you do about it:

  • reduce your time in front of screens
  • buy blue light blocking glasses
  • try a blue light filter

I personally, can’t reduce my time in front of my computer, since I work and study till late at night.

Blue light blocking glasses didn’t help me either, because they only made my headaches worse. Plus they don’t remove the problem – once you take off your glasses the blue light is still there and if you go somewhere and forget the glasses – there’s nothing you can do about it.

So the perfect option for me is a blue light filter.

I use Iris:

  • it decreases the amount of blue light
  • it controls the PWM Flicker
  • it controls the brightness of the screen and adjusts it to the light in the room
  • it helps me achieve more and work for hours

Blue light from digital devices has a huge effect on our circadian rhythm.

Let’s start with this:

What is a circadian rhythm?

Your circadian rhythm is basically a 24-hour internal clock that is running in the background of your brain and cycles between sleepiness and alertness at regular intervals.

It’s also known as your sleep/wake cycle.

What does blue light have to do with it?

Blue light suppresses melatonin production for more than twice as long as other light wavelengths and alters circadian rhythms by twice the degree.

How can you protect yourself?

You can:

  • reduce the time you spend in front of screens
  • buy blue light blocking glasses
  • download a blue light filter

For me, reducing the time I spend in front of my PC is impossible. I work and study with my laptop.

The blue light blocking glasses didn’t help me. I tried them, but they only increased the headaches I got.

SO I tried a blue light filter – Iris

It:

  • reduces the blue light
  • controls the PWM Flicker
  • controls the brightness
  • reminds me to take a break once in a while

In my opinion, all blue light that doesn’t come from a natural source (like the Sun) is bad.

In general, blue light doesn’t harm us. But it plays a massive role in our circadian rhythm and basically “tells” our brain when to produce melatonin, and when not.

At night, when we don’t see the blue light from the Sun, we get sleepy and our body understands that it’s time for bed.

However, when we stay in front of a PC or with LED lights on, we are still exposed to the blue light and therefore our brain gets confused – Is it a day? Is it a night?!

That’s the main reason why everyone talks about the negative effect of blue light on us.

What I do – I use bulbs with more yellow light.

When it comes to my PC – I use a blue light filter – Iris.

That way I have no trouble falling asleep at night. No more lying in bed for hours and counting how much sleep I’ll get if I fall asleep in a minute.

There is no doubt that the blue light is bad for our sleep.

So my advice to you is to reduce your exposure to it – wether with blue light filter, or something else.

Monitor Screen Protectors

Monitor screen covers can really help you protect your eyes both from the blue light and the glare.

However, they are not customizable. Sometimes you might want to see the real colors on the screen, but you won’t be able to.

So it might be a better idea to search for another option.

You can try 2 other things:

  • blue light blocking glasses
  • blue light filter

Blue light blocking glasses

Blue light blocking glasses are helpful again if you don’t need to customize the amount of blue light that gets blocked. In this case, it’s way easier to just take them off and see the real colors of the screen (if you are a graphic designer for example).

But once again – you can’t customize it.

Blue light filter

A blue light filter is the best decision in my opinion. It will block the blue light partly or entirely, you can adjust it. For example, your screen can emit 40% blue light or less/more. It’s all up to you and the light in your room.

You can turn it off when you need to see the real colors of an image.

The blue light filter can give you protection and flexibility to choose what you want to do.

If you want to try a blue light filter, you can try Iris

They keep my eyesight healthy and my eyes strong.

Here’s what I do:

  • Rolling

Rolling

Rolling your eyes like if someone annoys you can help you maintain good eye health. This strengthens your eye muscles.

Palming

Put your warm palms on your closed eyes. That way you warm your eyes up too, which relaxes them and removes the eye strain.

Blinking

When we spend too much time in front of the computer we often forget to blink and end up just staring at the screen. This causes eye strain and dry eyes. The solution – blink as often as you can.

Iris

I use a blue light filter on my PC. Iris is software for eye protection in front of the PC.

The main role of Melanopsin is to control our biological clock and circadian rhythms.

It does this by detecting when blue light is present in our environment.

Melanopsin activates when blue light enters our eye and it sends a signal to our brain that it’s day and our brains stops the secretion of our sleep hormone melatonin.

Melatonin from his side controls a large number of processes in our bodies and is responsible for our good night’s sleep.

When we have melatonin in our bodies we feel sleepy and this is the reason why you can’t fall asleep when you sit in front of the computer at night.

What you can do is to install a blue light filter on your PC that will decrease significantly the amount of blue light that your screen emits. That way you won’t have problems falling asleep at night.

I know there’s plenty of blue light filters, but I’ve tried a lot of them and my favorite is Iris.

It has more features and offers you more control over what gets changed on your screen.

The most interesting habit that I have is probably that I do eye exercises:

  • Palming

Palming

I put my warm palms on my eyes and close them. It’s important that no light passes through the fingers. When I do this exercise my eyes get warm and the eye strain passes away.

Blinking

Since I work in front of my computer every day, for more than 5–6 hours, my eyes often get dry. A way to avoid this is to blink as often as you can.

Focus

Once in awhile focus your eyes on different objects in the room — some closer to you, others – not. Switching focus helps you avoid nearsightedness.

Rolling

Rolling your eyes around keeps your muscles strong and healthy and helps you maintain good eye health.

Iris

This is a blue light software that I use. It obviously blocks the blue light that my screen emits and you’ve probably heard before that blue light from digital devices can be dangerous for your health.

There is no such thing as a secret to good health for me.

What I am most careful about is my eye health.

I’ve always had some eye problems – high diopters, dry eyes, astigmatism, etc. Recently I had surgery but eye protection will always be something I care about.

What I like to do is exercises for eyes:

  • palming
  • rolling
  • focus
  • blinking
  • Iris

Now let’s take a closer look at each one of them:

Palming

This is a very popular exercise and you may have already heard about it. Put your warm palms on your closed eyes and just stay like this. Make sure that no light passes through your fingers. This relaxes your eyes a lot.

Rolling

You know how you want to roll your eyes when someone annoys you – here’s your chance. Rolling your eyes around can help you train your eye muscles.

Focus

Once in awhile focus your eyes on different objects in the room – some closer to you, others – not. Again, this strengthens your eyes.

Blinking

This is a very important part! When we spend a lot of time in front of our PC we tend to forget to blink. We end up staring at these screens for hours, getting dry eyes and myopia. Turn blinking into your habit (I know it sounds strange, but you really forget to do it, I’m sure). BLink as fast as you can for a minute.

Iris

This is not an exercise obviously. Iris is a blue light filter, which apparently blocks the blue light from your screen. It’s an essential part of the eye protection process. Iris will help you work for hours without getting tired and will keep your eyes strong and healthy.

Healthy living for me doesn’t mean only eating healthy and exercising. Which is why I won’t talk about that.

I want to remind everyone something that we often forget to think about – our eye health.

Today we spend so much time in front of digital devices that it’s a huge challenge for our eyes to stay healthy and strong.

So here is what I do in order to maintain good eye health:

  1. Exercises
  2. Breaks
  3. Blue light filter
  4. Monitor

Exercises

I do eye exercises. Rolling your eyes around very fast, blinking as fast as you can for a minute, following the 20–20–20 rule – these are things that help me a lot. I work and study – every day I spend 6–7 or even more hours in front of my computer so it’s no wonder that I need something to help me relax my eyes.

Breaks

I try to take breaks once in a while. While I’m on computer I try to stand up for 2–3 minutes, go to the window and look as far as I can. That way you switch focus and your eyes won’t get tired so easily.

Blue light filter

As I mentioned, I spend a lot of time in front of my PC and I needed something to help me protect my eyes while on PC. The Blue light filter is exactly what I was looking for. The one I use is called Iris.

It:

  • blocks the blue light
  • controls the PWM Flicker
  • controls the brightness
  • reminds me to take breaks
  • helps me work longer
  • helps me achieve more

Monitor

Also, I highly recommend you to use a matte monitor – when your monitors don’t reflect anything from your surroundings, your eyes will feel way better.

Palming

Put your warm palms on your eyes and close them. Stay like this and feel how the warmth passes to your eyes and they relax. This removes the eye strain.

Rolling

Just like when someone annoys you – roll your eyes in different directions a couple of times. This keeps your eye muscles strong which is important for your overall eye health.

Blinking

When we are in front of our PC we often forget to blink – it’s just what monitors do – they make us forget to blink. The result is dry eyes and often – myopia. So turn this into your habit – blink as often as you can.

20–20–20

You may have heard about this one. It’s simple – every 20 minutes look at an object that is 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Iris

This is not an exercise but I thought it will be nice if I include it too. Iris is a blue light filter that I use on my computer.

It obviously blocks the blue light, but it also controls the PWM Flicker, the brightness and just basically makes the monitor healthy for my eyes 🙂

What comes to my mind is doing some eye exercises. I had myopia, but after surgery now I’m fine.

Here are some of the exercises that I still do in order to keep my eyes healthy:

  • palming
  • rolling
  • focus
  • blinking
  • Iris

Palming

Put your warm palms on your eyes and close them. Stay for 2–3 minutes like this. The warmth will relax your eyes.

Rolling

Rolling your eyes in different directions strengthens your eyes muscles and helps you keep your eyes healthy.

Focus

Focus on different objects in the room fast. Some should be close to you, others not. This will again keep your muscles strong.

Blinking

Blink as fast as you can for a while. I like this exercise – especially when I’m in front of my PC. Monitors tend to make us forget to blink. We just stare at the screens and this causes nearsightedness. So turn this into a habit – blink as fast as you can 🙂

Iris

Iris is a blue light filter that I use.

It protects your eyes in front of the PC. It also reminds me to take breaks and in these breaks, I do the exercises above. Which makes it the perfect fit for my healthy routine.

I work and study in front of a PC every day for 8–9 hours.

Most people will advise you to:

  • reduce your time on the PC
  • buy blue light blocking glasses
  • buy monitor protector for your computer
  • buy a blue light filter

Reduce your time on PC

This is not an option for me. I have to work, I have to study and I have to do it on my PC. That’s just the way things are in my case.

Blue light blocking glasses

I’ve tried them, but there are a few issues.

  1. They are not customizable – I can’t control the amount of blue light that gets blocked – sometimes I wish that my screen emits less blue light, sometimes more.
  2. They don’t remove the problem – once I take them off the blue light is still there, if I forget them I can’t do anything about it.
  3. They are uncomfortable. I hate wearing glasses and they cause me a headache.

Monitor protector

The thing I like about monitor protectors is that you can remove the glare from your screen if there is such. But again, they are not customizable and once you put it on you can’t see the real colors anymore.

Blue light filter

This is the best option in my opinion. It reduces the blue light but you can still customize it – it’s up to you how much blue light you’ll be exposed to. You can turn it off when you want to. Plus it’s cheaper than most of the glasses and protectors.

Which is exactly why I use a blue light filter too – mine is called Iris.

Hope my answer was helpful 🙂

Here’s what I do:

  • focus

Focus

Once in awhile focus on different objects in the room – some should be near you, others – far. Do this very fast, just switch your focus from one to another.

Blinking

When you work on your computer remember to blink. Monitors often make us forget to blink and we end up staring at the screen for hours. Turn blinking to your habit – for a minute blink as fast as you can. This will prevent you from getting dry eyes and will keep your eyes stronger.

Palming

Put your warm palms on your eyes and close them. It will help you relax your eyes for a bit.

Rolling

Just like when someone annoys you – roll your eyes a couple of times. This strengthens your eye muscles.

20–20–20

You’ve probably heard about the 20–20–20 rule before. Every 20 minutes look at an object that is 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This way you switch the focus and prevent myopia.

Iris

You can also try using a blue light filter like Iris. Especially if you spend more than 3–4 hours a day in front of a computer.

I personally don’t think that eye exercises can improve your vision.

BUT I think that they can help you keep your eyes healthy.

We spend hours staring in front of a screen – wether it’s our phone, TV, PC, a book, etc. This causes nearsightedness – I’ve experienced it myself. I had huge diopters before, but eye exercises never helped me improve my eyesight, a surgery did. Now eye exercises help me keep my eyes healthy.

Here’s what I do:

  • rolling
  • palming
  • focusing
  • blinking
  • Iris

Rolling

You know the situation when someone annoys you and you want to roll your eyes – do it now. Roll your eyes in different directions as fast as possible. Like this:

Palming

Put your warm palms on your eyes and close them. It helps them relax.

Focusing

For a minute switch focus from your thumb to a distant object and again to your thumb.

Blinking

For a minute blink as fast as you can. It will make your eye muscles stronger.

Iris

Obviously that’s not an exercise. Iris is a blue light filter you can try on your PC. It will help you improve your sleep and your work and it will protect your eyes.

What they do is that they apparently block the blue light that your PC/TV/phone emits.

A lot of people use them in the office, while they work.

I don’t find them very comfortable, to be honest. First, when I tried them, my headache got even worse than it was without them.

I also don’t like the idea that I can’t customize them, I can’t say how much blue light I want to be blocked, and how much not.

And last but not least, they don’t remove the problem. Once I take them off, the blue light is still there. If I forget my glasses there’s nothing I can do about it.

That’s why I switched to a blue light filter.

  • I don’t get headaches because:
  • I can customize the amount of blue light that my screen emits
  • I can turn it off when I need to see the real colors of a picture for example
  • I don’t have to think about glasses, etc.

There is plenty of blue light filters – like Iris.

My headaches increased and I couldn’t stand wearing them.

Plus, with these glasses, you don’t remove the problem permanently.

Once you take them off, the blue light is still there and if you forget them – it will continue damaging your eyes.

So I switched to a blue light filter.

There are so many blue light filters, so I’ll share my experience with 2 of them.

First I tried f.lux, then Iris.

F.lux was fine, but it doesn’t control the PWM Flicker. For those of you who don’t know what PWM Flicker is – it is something that drives your eyes crazy. Here’s what they look like when you are in front of a PC:

Scary, right?

Iris does control the flicker so I switched to it and I’m happy with my choice.

Iris:

  • decreases the amount of blue light
  • controls the PWM Flicker
  • controls the brightness
  • reminds me to take breaks
  • helps me work for hours and achieve more

It’s even more than OK – it’s necessary!

It’s a well-known fact that blue light has a bad effect on our eyes, on our overall wellbeing and our sleep habits.

In general, not all blue light is bad light.

Considering the fact, that the Sun is the main source of blue light, we can’t say that we should avoid blue light at all costs. This kind of blue light simply doesn’t harm us. It helps our biological clocks stay on track. Blue light “tells” our brain when it’s a day and when it’s night.

So when you look at the screen that emits blue light at night, your brain thinks that it’s still day and you can’t fall asleep.

So you should always have your blue light filter turned on – especially at night!!!

The blue light filter that I use – Iris, uses my location to track when it’s day/night in my country or wherever I am.

It transitions the light and adjusts it to the light in the room. So I don’t have to think about that at all – it just does all of that work for me.

The blue light filter does two things:

  • controls the PWM Flicker

Let’s take a closer look at each one of these things.

Blue light

Before you ask why blue light is so bad, let me explain – NOT all blue light is bad light. Our Sun is the main source of blue light and it doesn’t harm us. The blue light that comes from all kinds of digital devices is what harms us. It is the reason why you can’t fall asleep at night.

PWM Flicker

I don’t know if you’ve heard about PWM Flicker before. If you haven’t, here’s what your eyes look like when you sit in front of your PC:

From my personal experience, I can say that blue light filters do improve your sleep.

First, we may explain why blue light harms our sleep:

At some point, evolution created one special photoreceptor, called Melanopsin, into the eye. The only function of this photoreceptor was only to check if it’s day or night and tell our brain the result, so our brain can control our biological clocks.

So if a blue light filter blocks the blue light and therefore your brain doesn’t stop the secretion of melatonin – a blue light filter does help you sleep better 🙂

There are a lot of blue light filters you can choose between now. I personally use Iris.

I’ve tried others too, but this one gives me the most features and allows me to control everything on my screen. I can adjust the settings anytime I want to.

If there is no blue light on your screen at all, here’s what it’ll look like:

That’s why screens emit the full light spectrum.

Blue light truly is harmful for us, because it controls our circadian rhythm – it tells our brain when it’s time to fall asleep and when you see it during the night from your PC, you can’t fall asleep – your brain thinks that it’s still a day.

What you can do is to try a blue light filter like the one from the picture above – Iris.

There you can control how much blue light you’ll get. You can decrease it till 100% like in the picture or you can make it something like this:

It’s entirely up to you which is why I love Iris.

During the day I let my screen emit more blue light because it is closer to the light that surrounds me.

At night I block almost all of it, which has improved my sleep a lot.

Well, this depends on how much time you spend in front of a computer.

In general, blue light is not bad light, but when it comes from digital devices, it messes up your circadian rhythm and causes sleepless nights.

If you spend 1–2 hours max a day in front of a PC, blue light may not be such a huge problem for your health.

However, if you are stuck in front of your computer for more, you should consider using a blue light filter.

And you should use it all the time, especially at night.

Why?

Because at night, we don’t see the natural blue light from the sun, right? So it’s not OK to look at the blue light that comes from the screen.

You can try a blue light filter like Iris, which has a Sleep mode for example – it completely blocks the blue light like this:

I know it looks weird, but I promise – once you try it, you’ll get used to it in a minute and it will help you a lot.

You’ll sleep like a baby after spending an entire day on your computer.

So my advice to you is:

If you use your PC more than 1–2 hours a day – try Iris for free and see if you’ll feel better 🙂

I’ll be more than happy to answer some of your other questions 🙂

Well, blue light filters are exactly what you hear – they filter the blue light.

So maybe we should start with the question: Why is blue light bad?

First I want to make clear that NOT all blue light is bad light. Blue light is part from the visible light. Here you can see that it’s in the Visible Light from the Light Spectrum:

It surrounds us every day – the Sun is the main source of blue light.

So you can’t and you shouldn’t avoid all kinds of blue light at all costs.

However, you should try to reduce your exposure to blue light from digital devices – your phone your PC, your TV, etc.

Long answer short -this kind of blue light is responsible for your sleepless nights.

When it’s dark outside, when it’s night, you can’t see the blue light of course, and this tells your brain that it’s time for sleep – that’s how your circadian rhythm works.

And when you sit for hours in front of that PC, you are exposed to blue light and your body can’t realize that it’s time for sleep. Therefore you can’t fall asleep after that and end up lying in bed and staring at the clock, counting how sleep you’ll get if you fall asleep in a minute, in two, in ten, etc…

It sounds hopeless, but it’s not.

Blue light filters are exactly the thing that will help you reduce the negative effects of blue light.

Check out Iris.

It:

  • reduces the blue light
  • controls the PWM Flicker
  • controls the brightness
  • reminds you to take breaks
  • offers different types and modes, which you can adjust the way you want them to be

I think that you’ll find out the answer to your question very quickly 😉

For me, blue light filters are a MUST.

don’t see a way that a blue light filter app can harm your eyes.

Let’s start first with this question:

What does a blue light filter do?

It completely or partly blocks the blue light from your screen and helps you keep your eyes healthy.

Why is blue light bad?

Not all blue light is bad – for example, the Sun is the main source of blue light and the blue light that it emits doesn’t harm us.

It’s not the same with the blue light, that comes from digital devices.

At night, we don’t see the natural blue light, because there is no Sun. Which means that it’s unnatural to look at the screens that are like a big bright sun. This simply confuses our organisms.

Blue light “tells” our brain when it’s day/night. And when we don’t see it at night we get sleepy. But when we are in front of a PC and are exposed to blue light, our brain thinks that it’s still day and we can’t fall asleep after that.

What can we do about it?

We can use a blue light filter.

I don’t think that a blue light filter can damage our eyes. It just simply reduces the amount of blue light. What’s wrong about that?

I use a blue light filter every day – Iris. And I’m very happy with it.

My eye never felt so good, I work for hours and don’t get a headache, eye pain, eye strain, dry eyes, etc. Iris has a free trial also, you can see yourself how useful it is.

But even with other blue light filters – I don’t see a way they can be dangerous.

Blue light, as you may know, is part of the visible light from the light spectrum:

The Sun is the main source of blue light, which means that NOT all blue light is bad light.

The blue light from the Sun has controlled our circadian rhythms for centuries and it has never been bad for us.

However, when there comes another source of artificial blue light – all digital devices, this confuses our brain. It can’t say when it’s day/night and this messes up our biological clock.

The result – sleepless nights.

So the purpose of a blue light filter is to reduce the negative effect of the blue light that our screens emit. A blue light filter helps you sleep better and protect your eyes.

That’s why I use a blue light filter on all my devices and at this moment I’m so used to it that I just can’t stand looking at a normal screen. Believe me, after a month of using a blue light filter you won’t believe what you used to do to your eyes.

I use Iris

It’s easy to navigate and it doesn’t only block the blue light, but also controls the PWM Flicker which drives your eyes crazy while on PC:

Try Iris for free

Or try any other blue light filter. Just do something for your eyes.

You need them your whole life.
